NLFB is Canada’s longest continuous running music festival and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011. NLFB has presented a multitude of acclaimed artists including: Serena Ryder, Stan Rogers, Broken Social Scene, Buffy Ste. Marie, Bruce Cockburn, Daniel Lanois, Jeff Healey, a young Eileen ‘Shania’ Twain and many more. NLFB is a true Northern Ontario musical experience, exposing patrons to acclaimed household names as well as newly discovered emerging acts. Over the years NLFB has grown from a one day event called the ‘Northern Lights Folk Festival’, into a seasoned presenter of Canadian roots and modern music. The modern NLFB experience can be described as, ‘a roots music festival that loves modern music,’ or ‘a modern music festival that’s in love with its roots.’
