Edmonton’s prairie balladeer, Scott Cook and Wells, BC indie folk
rockers, Jesse Dee and Jackie B will perform in a private home in
Greater Sudbury on Saturday, October 29 at 8:00 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Please RSVP.
Scott Cook is a young, tirelessly travelling songwriter with heart
forever on sleeve. A lifelong wanderer, he brings honesty, humour,
years of roads and a deep love of humanity to his songwriting and
storytelling. His straight-talking tunes weave together folk, roots,
blues and reggae influences, backed by finger-picked acoustic guitar,
banjo, and ukulele. He has been playing full-time since 2007, and is
currently touring in support of his third solo album, Moonlit Rambles.
He’s bringing along his band-mates Jesse Dee & Jacquie B, who will
also be playing selections from their cinematic new album Our Ghosts
Will Fill These Walls.
You must make reservations in advance by emailing or phoning Scott
Merrifield at housecon.sud@gmail.com or 705-674-0422. Space is
limited so don’t delay. Once capacity is reached, any additional names
will be placed on a waiting list in case of cancellations. Admission is $20
and 100% will go to the artists. Bring whatever you want to drink and, if
you like, something to contribute to the snack table.

More Performer Info:
“Scott Cook has distilled his travels down into songs powered by a
sharp eye for imagery, a healthy dose of humanity, and that
unforgettable voice, that at the same time intones the rigors of the
road and the most comfortable couch you have ever slept on.”
-David Francey, 3x Juno Winner
“This is exactly the kind of act you’d be happy to stumble down the
hill or through the birches and hear at a music festival… warm like
a campfire, familiar like the lake
down the road… deep-thinking, introspective stuff”
-Fish Griwkowsky, The Edmonton Sun
“An eloquent, finger picked, perfect-for-Sunday-listening record”
-Americana UK
“Without question, the most endearing of folk hippies…—a reggae
country bluesman whom Willie Nelson would get along with better than
pretty much any of us… The music on his new one is pretty,
thoughtful, & hopeful—lustful for life and eternally
grateful. ★★★★.”
-SEE Magazine, Edmonton
Currently based out of the idyllic gold-mining town of Wells, BC,
former Edmontonians Jesse Dee & Jacquie B have been honing their craft
relentlessly for the past 3 years. The songs on their newest release
Our Ghosts Will Fill These Walls (summer 2011) are the result of a
journey that continues to unfold. The trials of the road have matured
their music along with their souls, and the small mountain hamlet
tucked away in the hills of northern BC has shown them what a bit of
quiet can do.
Writing their songs more and more with a band in mind, their latest
endeavours have allowed Jesse Dee & Jacquie B to create two very
distinctive kinds of music. On the one side, harder-hitting folk/rock
with jazzy stops, builds and textured instrumentation reminiscent of
Ryan Adams, The Band, and early Grateful Dead; on the other, sweet
harmonies and delicate electric guitar in the vein of Luke Doucet and
Ani Difranco.
